Bin Laden's makeshift classroom. Washington, D.C. - In a recent audio tape aired on Al-Jazeera television, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has reportedly proposed some sort of “truce” between his own ignorantly evil terror organization and the United States in a move that has convinced White House officials that America’s efforts to thwart terrorism must be working. Strangely, according to those who have meticulously examined the tape, bin Laden also makes mention of other tactics that have commonly been used on children’s playgrounds here in the US for decades. At one point in the taped remarks, the despicable terrorist asks the Bush administration for a “time-out” from the War on Terror so that he and his minions may regroup and better prepare themselves for any actions that may come in the future, a request that White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has called “ludicrous” and “a farce.”
Acting as though he understands the climate of public opinion in the United States, bin Laden referred to polls that show disapproval of America’s presence in Iraq and of President Bush’s job performance hoping to spark some sort of increased outcry to cease military actions in the Middle East obviously thinking that citizens here have forgotten that he orchestrated his own displeasure by executing the unforgivable attacks of 9/11 (as well as others). Later in the taped statement bin Laden implores the US to give him and al-Qaida a “do-over,” an oft employed measure used by American youth who feel that they have swung at a bad pitch or got off to an unimpressive start on a video game. According to Snow, bin Laden’s apparent attempt to use American standbys as a way to garner breathing room or an uncalled for second chance is “one of the most outrageous delusions ever caught on tape.” “What Osama bin Laden is attempting to do here is akin to the kid in the neighborhood that claims that his ‘mom said he can’t get wet’ when all the other kids are playing with water pistols-- you know it’s not true, and in the end, he’s the one that gets wetter than anybody else. It’s clear that if bin Laden is ready for a truce, which in all likelihood is just a scam anyway, we must be doing something right. Just like in the games we played growing up,” Snow said, “you don’t ask for a do-over if you’re on the team that’s winning.” |
